Bite
A driver wants their car to move easily, so it doesn't take much work (either by the engine or by her/him). So the wheels go round easily if your brakes aren't on.
But what happens if you're on a slope ? If you let the brakes off, the car may not start to move in the direction you want. It'll roll whichever way gravity makes it roll. To keep control, you need to make the engine hold the car still when you release brakes. It's like eating sloppy pizza. Your jaw (= engine) is ready to chew. But if your teeth (= clutch) don't first grip the food, gravity might make the pizza fall away (= go the opposite way from what you want) when your hand lets go (= brakes off). |
