It is DIA's view that moves will be made to mandate face coverings for trainers, given they have already been mandated for many other professionals working in vehicles, such as bus drivers and now licensed taxi and private hire drivers.
The majority of professional trainers already wear a face covering in training sessions, and require their pupils to also take similar precautions. However, trainers have so far been exempt from face mask rules that were introduced on July 14 for shoppers and those on public transport.
Fines for failing to wear a face mask, where mandated, will rise to £200.
