Birmingham trunk roads' major cycle route

Long-in-the-making, and at last a new purpose for the grassy reservation between carriageways on the Bristol Road between Priory Road Edgbaston and Edgbaston Park Road, this is the blue-tarmac cycleway to be opened this Spring. From the city, it will run south (on the A38) toward the University and north (along the A34) toward Perry Barr.

Pictures below show how road markings will direct motor traffic when it crosses the dual-carriageway, and how it should give way when the cycleway traverses a side-road :
