We're perhaps used to this expression. And it always got an easy laugh when discussing a new idea with my previous employer (the Church of England).
But, teaching in two languages, I've recently wondered why the Romance languages say "conduct" the car but we say "drive" (as in "force it along"). Or where the word "road" comes from. It's an interesting answer … even if this sort of thing isn't "right up your street".
