So here it is: my result. Happily, a pass (this time). 3 marks short of Grade A, which was nice. Overall feelings? Not very different from the old Check Test. Yes, I'd primed my pupil a little, but also threw in loads of Q&A on the move, both on and off my topic (Anticipation and Pedestrian Crossings). The first 10 min of debrief flagged up a couple of fundamental omissions on my part (timing of CM/LM after passing an obstruction, of CM after identifying a crossing, plus two sharp pull-ups) and the fact it was "a solid pass" was just dropped in. That left me a little miffed, as it was all starting to feel like my last attempt (a Grade 2!) Overall, Mr L. thought I'd talked too much for a pupil of such high standard; I should have simplified my language, given directional instructions somewhat earlier, and let him do more concentrating and commentary. I had my reasons, but it was fair observation given that examiners have only a few minutes in which to assess you for years ahead (rather like the L-test!) Overall, quite happy with the new process. But happier still that it's away from me for another 2-4 years.
