Turning off
When approaching a side road to turn into, use the "hazard routine": Mirrors, Signal, Position, Speed, Look (MSPSL).
Use mirrors as soon as you see the junction. Use a turning signal (if safe) about 6-8 car lengths from it. Delay the signal if, on your side, there's an obstruction or an earlier turning, as it might confuse others. When 2-3 car lengths away, assess the corner to know which gear to use : 2 if normal; 1 if sharp. Bring the clutch up and ease off the brake before you start steering. |

Start to unsteer half way round the corner, gently adding gas. Check centre and right mirrors to be sure it's safe to speed up.
